Diamond Don's 1st Annual Vintage Am USA vs Europe Motocross Challenge : Team USA: Danny Laporte, Chuck Sun, Gary Jones and Bill Silverthorne edged out Team Europe: Graham Noyce, Lars Larson, Herbert Schmitz and Zdenek Velky for the first annual "Vintage-Am" trophy. US Vintage Gran Prix in Lake City, Florida 2009 : Woody Graves and the Florida Vintage MX group put on this first annual U.S. Vintage Gran Prix of Motocross to coincide with Daytona Bike Week. Practice was on Monday March 2, race on March 3, 2009. Mac Edmonston won a couple classes on '82 Honda Elsinores, Roy Jenkins took 2nd on an '82 Honda 125 in the 0-200cc open class behind Mac and the third member of the LA vintage team, Steve Campbell took 4th in the same class.

HSMX Hare Scramble : This 6 hour race was held at "The Pit" in Darrow, LA just down river from Baton Rouge. The High School Motocross Team was raising fuel money to go to the National Amateur Championship in Ponca City, OK. The race was delayed for an hour due to lightning, but racers and crews pushed through the persistent rain.

Your Bio

Roy Jenkins is a motocross racing chaplain, PA announcer, journalist and author in south Louisiana and Mississippi. His son Kyle Jenkins took many of the pictures before joining the marines. Both are former racers. His articles have appeared in motorcycle magazines, newspapers and books. He has written 2 books, "Devotions for Racers" and "Racing Fuel for the Spirit."
